Saunders is a good choice, also Kaplan is good for strategies. I also like Sylvia Rayfield, if you google that name, you'll come up with the website and you can order their review books.

Specializes in tele, icu, homecare, long-term acute.

I've heard Kaplan and Saunders are both good choices, but I wouldn't know from personal experience as I didn't use either; this is what other students told me they liked. Good luck on NCLEX! Relax, you'll do fine!

My friend took the NCLEX for LPN and said that there isn't any way to study for the test? She said that you just have to go for it... This is against my style of learning so I will probably study anyway lol.... Good luck. I will start school in December (hopefully) so I have a long way to go.

I used the purple Kaplan strategy book and cd, a purple and orange prioritization/delegation book, and lots of prayers. The Sylvia Rayfield books were ok for short to the point information. I also surfed through the exam cram book of 704 pages and had subscribed to the NCSBN for 3 weeks in Aug. I passed NCLEX RN with 75 questions.

SYN RN :monkeydance:

Specializes in Inpatient Rehabiliation.

I used mostly Saunders but also got some books from the library (other NCLEX prep books) and reviewed them as well in my spare time. One was a Davis book, cant remember the other.

Specializes in Med/Surg Stepdown, Oncology.

Saunders Comprehensive Review for the NCLEX-RN Examination, Third Edition

(book and CD)

ISBN: 9781416031994

Kaplan NCLEX-RN Exam 2007-2008: Strategies for the Registered Nursing Licensing Exam

(book and CD)

ISBN: 9781419550980

I started out with the Kaplan book to refresh my memory on how the exam is structured/administered. Once I had a pretty good grip on the process for analyzing and answering questions, I moved on to content review. All in all, I'd estimate that I spent less than 10 hours overall with this book (didn't end up using the CD much).

The majority of my study time centered on reviewing content with the Saunders book. As my exam date neared, I found myself using the CD much more frequently than the book... I liked being able to put together quizzes on varying topics, and used the test function to hit my weakest areas.

In case you haven't seen it yet, here's a link to "Suzanne's Plan" for exam prep (posted in the NCLEX forum):

https://allnurses.com/forums/f197/new-revised-first-tip-suzannes-plan-195774.html

I didn't have enough time to follow "step 1" in its entirety, but it did help me focus my studying on content areas I felt I struggled with the most.

GOOD LUCK!!!
