If you're staying in PA your best bet is to get a job in Philly... But if you live in Bethlehem that will be quite a commute. Philly pays about $10 more an hour than Bethlehem/Allentown area. I even live in the Philly suburbs and we pay about the same as Bethlehem. Also I know in Bethlehem if it's possible to land one, weekend programs pay good $$$. They make more than working as a new grad in Philly but then you have to devote each weekend to work.
To answer the replies.
I plan on staying in Pa for the time being(>10 years).
I'm looking for critical care and seem to be getting beat up for not having a BSN or 2-3 years med-surg.
The good news, the area pays so low for new grads my Paramedic pay is comparable, or even more, so no rush. :)
thx,

Hello Everyone,
About a month ago I passed the NCLEX(woo hoo), but looking at my first job. Since moving away from my Paramedic Job(very flexible, rewarding work, lots of hours, etc) to an new RN job(very inflexible, very structured, limited hours initially) and locally, RN positions don't pay much more than my Paramedic Job.
I live in the Bethlehem area, and looking south for work. Any one have any advice to getting into ED jobs? Any advice, inside tips, or places to apply?
Thank you,
