Hello and welcome to our world! :)
First of all, congratulations! This is what you want, the path you want to take, it's here so make the most out of it.
Second, do not be scared! It's okay to not know everything. You are a student after all. You are expected to be willing to learn new things. This world of ours is an exhausting but rewarding field. You have to work hard, sacrifice your time, study a lot and be prepared for some (or lots) of disapointments. But, with all these comes the most fulfilling, heart-warming, tear-jerking moments of your life. Enjoy it!
Believe in yourself, and thank God for this wonderful blessing He has given you.
Good Luck! :)
First off Congratulations to you! It is such a blessing to be in a program as there are SO MANY applicants that continually get denied and are wait listed for years. Take a moment to feel lucky & blessed for the position that you are in!
Next off to ease your concerns about searching through packets by yourself. Flip through them as soon as you get them. Any questions that you have you should address with the appropriate department/teacher/counselor..whomever. What the school obviously does know is that you were accepted at the last minute after the orientation. Ask questions about anything that you don't understand or feel you may be misinformed of.
You are starting such a wonderful journey and everything is going to work out even if right now it feels like a world of uncertainty.
Again a heart felt congratulations to you & good luck with your future career as a nurse!
:ancong!:
With only 3 days before the cutoff to move off of the waiting list I had resigned myself to not getting in this year and was looking forward to fall '10. I was truly okay w/ waiting, I had things I wanted to get done first anyways, 2010 was better timing etc etc.
So when I got the call that day I about hyperventilated! I'm still waffling between excited and nervous enough to puke! I have three weeks to cram in two orientations, a physical, CPR, re-routing my financial aid to new school, figuring out our schedules (Dh is also in school and we have a 4y/o son), the TEAS test, ordering books & uniforms and the list goes on!
It's SO going to be worth it to graduate a year earlier then I planned though!
First of all, congratulations!!
Secondly, you might want to consider contacting the nursing deptartment to see if you can set up a meeting with the dean or one of the instructors to go over the material with you since you didn't get a chance to go to the orientation. I believe they'll accomodate you, orientations are important, especially the first one. Make sure you get any and all questions answered so you're not behind the rest of the class. I was really stressed when I had the materials but hadn't gone to orientation yet, but it felt a LOT more manageable once I'd been. Hope that helps!
I was in the same situation ,,,,, I was informed in July which its about 2 months b4 which is giving me a lot of time b4 school starts to get ready for Aug 31 2009 !!! I am excited and scared of all the stories i read here ... but my dad told me the other day that i will be the one making my own story and that it will not be the same to anyones so with that in mind I will go to the first day of class with my right foot forward and will give the best! Congrats and best wishes!!!

Hello, all! I've been lurking on this forum for awhile, but never expected to be a part of it so soon. I've been on the waiting list for the ADN program for the last 2 years, and was set to enter the program next fall (based on my number on the waiting list and confirmed by the department). The day before yesterday, I got the call. I start the program, full time, in 20 days (well, 18 now). I am officially freaking out. I knew this day would come (obviously) but I had no idea it would be so sudden or I would feel so overwhelmed at the thought of it. Compounding my stress is the fact that orientation for the program already occurred (I got in because there was a cancellation, apparently) so I'm going to have to wade through the packets of material by myself.
So, yeah. Anyone else in a similar boat?
