I avoid anything with alcohol. I hate this monitoring agreement so my goal is to finish on time and have a normal life so it's worth it to me. I use soap and water. I think alcohol free mouthwash would be fine and probably hand sanitizer . I definitely err on the extreme side of caution. I don't use soy sauce. Other people even drink alcohol and some get away with it. I'd rather be super safe and finish on time. I will eat drink and be merry when this is over

What can soy sauce give a false positive for? Gahhh I love soy sauce LOL
You can use hand sanitizer not excessively LOL stay away from pure vanilla extract and rum cakes and extracts. Bourbon sauces.. anything else is fine. Of course no alcohol or non-alcohol beer or liquor. Watch the meds u take I only take headache meds and Claritin there should be a list on your BON website

Some restaurants can use alcohol to Sautee? Honeybuns and donuts are kind of yeasty. I also eat nothing vanilla in case it has vanilla extract. When this is over, I can eat and drink anything.

So I am new to monitoring. After researching, I see that it's recommended to avoid a plethora of foods and products. What I really want to know is what is the actual likelihood that the use of these would curate a false positive? It is kind of insane to me to think that we as nurses can't use hand sanitizer because hand hygiene is so important. Wouldn't washing after every instance just make your hands raw, especially for years? What is your personal experience? Do you really avoid things like soy sauce? What about alcohol free mouthwash? Do you use perfume? If you don't use sanitizer, what do you use? Basically: has anything other than actually drinking, or a UTI, made you false positive? The list of products to avoid seems almost impossible. What can we use? Please respond!
