New Mexico for initial licensure

good day!

i'm to take the philippine nursing board exam in november. i plan to eventually work in california. since it's not recommended for initial licensure, i plan to apply in new mexico.

my question is: should i apply for my course-by-course credentials review now? according to new mexico's bon, it seems that a local license in the philippines is not required (please correct me if i'm wrong). i have a lot of time on my hands so i was thinking if i should act now and get my credentials review, take the ielts, and take the nclex. i'm concerned about all the updating i may need to do when i eventually get my local license.

also, would using josef silny & associates www.jsilny.com for my credentials review be recommended? it's one of the four agencies on nm bon's list. it has the cheapest rate at $275. cgfns ces course-by-course is $378. my concern is that cgfns ces is the most widely accepted, so the extra cost may be worth it. silverdragon102 mentioned in another thread that ces is useful if i want to pursue continuing education in the us in the future, plus most states (like vermont) prefer ces when applying to them for initial licensure (this is in case i encounter problems with getting my license in new mexico).

i know there's retrogression and i'm looking at a loooong time before getting to the us. but the longer i stall, the longer still it'll take me. i just want to get my papers in there and fall in line.

help please!

With regard to the need for SSN, I don't know. I e-mailed NM BON, still waiting for a reply.

Specializes in intensive care, recovery, anesthetics.

Important is that they don't destroy your file what California does without SSN after a certain amount of years, so should be fine.

Regarding your credentials, CGFNS can be a pain in the ..., but when you're planning to come with a work visa you'll need them eventually for visascreen, much easier if they have all your stuff on file then allready. And since you have time, I think I would go the CGFNS route, plus they are accepted everywhere, like other boards if you should move somewhere else. You never know, right?

I would have to agree with 5cats and say CGFNS will be able to use your documents for both CES and VSC and as you said I do recommend full course by course as institutes do tend to request it if you plan on further education once in the US.

I noticed that with Silny, the price is $300 for a single board of nursing. If you want to have your credentials sent to another board of nursing its another $300. CGFNS charges $30 for that additional report. Silny doesn't seem to have a lot of experience doing transcript evaluations and doesn't know the Philippine education landscape at all -- erroneously thinking that accreditation is a viable concept in Philippines. Note that Silny is accepted by 3 boards of nursing, where as CGFNS is accepted by all. In summary. CGFNS.
