The name is Paul and I am a new graduate from Adelphi University in New York. (BSN). I am planning of moving to Alpharetta GA, with my friends; I am wondering how much they pay over there....and how is the nurse/patient ratio? Please get back with this info.

hi and good luck

Thanks a lot. How is it in GA?

i'm just a friendly old nurse from canada

i'm told georgia is peachy !

Nurse - pt. ratio depends on the shift and the hospital. I work at Emory on a step down unit from the icu, i'ts an ltac unit and we are 3:1 days and 4-5:1 at night. I think if you work on a normal unit you have 7 or so patients but not sure.

Maybe you're looking at North Fulton or Northside? What area are you going into?

Hi there igbide, just doing a search and I see you graduated from Adelphi, did you attend their manhattan campus? Just curious to hear you opinion about the school.

Hi Paul:

I am a recent nursing school graduate (last May) and I live in Alpharetta. Hospitals in this area pay new graduates around $20-22 per hour. I have worked at Northside Hospital for the past year, but also have classmates that work in all of the other area hospitals and pay seems pretty comparable. Cost of living in Alpharetta is pretty steep, but coming from New York, you should be used to that! Let me know if you have any questions about the area - there are plenty of hospitals within driving distance from Alpharetta. Good luck with your move!

living in alpharetta is cheaper than intown living like buckhead or midtown. since you are coming from nyc and may not have a car right away, i would suggest living in midtown or buckhead, therefore you can quickly catch the marta to northside hos. or st. joseph. there's also piedmont in the buckhead area or grady downtown. midtown is more city living than alpharetta. unless you have a family, i wouldn't live in alpharetta. it's a nice place but it's very very suburban...think soccer moms and mini-vans.
