Hi Everyone!!!
I've received my acceptance letter for the LPN program-Yay! I am really excited to start classes in Jan 2015. I am a wife and mother of two. I've been hearing how intense this program can may decide not to work. Even with not working, I am still a FT wife and mother. Any advice from LPN's just recent graduates or who are currently in the program, on how to balance family and school? Ways of studying that worked for you? Other tactics. Any advice would be greatly appreciated as this is all new to me. I am currently in the medical field as a Dialysis Technician and CPR instructor. I have another month or so before starting. Any advice on what i should do before classes start?
Thanks in advance! God Bless.

Hey IdaPorchae,
I am currently in an LPN program and I would recommend waiting to quit your job even with having a family and school because the first semester is where a lot of students are lost. You have to pass "check-offs" for clinical skills and of course the tests. Basically there are a lot of chances in Fundamentals to fail, so to have quit your job and that happens early on wouldnt be smart. You have medical experience so it may also be really easy for you, which would make it easier for you to manage all three, so quitting again would have been a mistake. Also there are a lot of costs during the first 3 months so you want to be well able to take care of those expenses, because they dont really care if you cant afford something, thats just another seat empty, which makes it easier for them to manage the clinical sites, so dont think they will have much sympathy, just saying. Now besides that study, study, study and practice your skills. Be on time and present to all classes unless you absolutely can not, and get your rest. In any case the choice is yours to make and if you can afford to manage without working then by all means do so. I work full time and go to school now myself and I am making great grades. I may drop down a day or so in January but I will wait and see how the semester progresses. Good Luck to you.
