The program last a year. Im a LPN student graduating in 2 weeks. And i can tell you that the program is very challenging. My advice to you - READ ahead of time if you can.If you books come with study guides make sure you buy them and use it as a good study stool and you should be okay. There is going to be a lot of information for a short period of time. The exams will be challenging- questions will be in scenario form. . Overall, It's not an easy program.Good time management is the key..Study study!!! DOnt hesitate to ask if you have any other question.
Good luck! you can make it!

Read, make your own notes from reading, record lectures and listen to them, make your own notes from lecture notes, use outside resources(Internet or YouTube)
I just finished this week all that is left is my pinning next Tuesday. My program was very fast and very hard it was a year long.

I just started my LVN 15 month program , they're not kidding it is very fast paced I'm on my second week and we're already on chapter 7 not on one book but on 4. Thank God we have good instructors and they help you till you understand . There is a ton of reading but don't get scared its not impossible. I was scared of starting and not being able to handle it but so far so good. I'm sure it's going to be a lot of work but at the end it will bE worth it. I'm so proud n excited for myself. Well good luck and hopefully we're both LVNs by 2013(:

One thing to do is keep up. Don't ever let yourself get behind. Review and read everyday. It's a lot of work but you can do it. Good luck!!!!!!!!!

I just started 3week ago and in 2 weeks we will be done with a&p it goes very fast! Hopefully u will have a great teacher and they will let you know exactly what they expecte you to know, so your not memoring the entire book! Try to make a power point or study guide, pick out keywords makes things alot easier!! goodluck

I finished my LPN in May of this year had started last yr so It would be a 11 months of actual class time and a 1month nclex review. You also have to include the time you have to wait to sit for your nclex which can be up to 2 months. I am currently waiting to sit for my nclex which is a PIA. So I would say a year to finish the program and 2 months for actual licensure. It is a fast paced program so don't slack off and when they say you will have no social life during that 1 year they mean it. Good luck

I start a two weeks ago and we already finished a whole course. My program is 11 months and I think our longest course is nursing fundamentals. I strongly suggest making flashcards because there are so many new terms! Its tough. We have a test like everyday and I'm stressed like crazy. But I have a goal and ill make it before I know it! Good luck!
Thanks you guys nice advice . I already stocked up on flashcards :) I'm actually going to take Lpn program at job corps on new York so it's pretty strict with a curfew , wake up call, and limited access to outside world except on weekends your free. I have faith that this will be a good thing and I can. It wait to embark on this journey.

The key is to remain positive and keep telling yourself why you want to be a nurse and make a list of your goals and read them everyday, as a motivator to yourself and also stay focused. At times I would get tempted at straying away from studying to watch one of my favorite programs on tv or check my facebook, before I deleted it, etc. I had to and have to keep telling myself that it can wait, that, that show will come on again but this opportunity may not and its gonna affect the rest of my life.

My program starts in Sept. I am really nervous and excited too!! I was told that reading the first 2 chapters or so before the program starts would help. I don't know if you have your books yet but maybe you can try that before you start!~! I am really anxious at this point!! Best of luck..
