NEW LPN in NYC looking for first job(hospital)?

I am new to this forum and have been browsing through the threads and wanted to know, if and where could a newly minted LPN find a job in a new york city or long island hospital?

Does anyone have suggestions about agency work, or what are some good agencies?

Alot of people have told me that working med-surg is the best initial first step in nursing.

Maybe others have some information that I dont have, but when I was an LPN I was unable to find a job in a hospital on LI, since most dont hire LPN's. I did have a friend who worked med surg at a hospital in oceanside (cant think of the name right now), but they required her to have a year of experience first. This same nurse after a 2 years of her hospital experience worked agency at New Island hospital. I think Mercy might hire LPN's but I wouldnt work there if it was the last place on earth. I found that most jobs available to LPNs on LI are in nursing homes. Even if that is not what you want to do, the year of experience will be invaluable.
