I don't know what you mean by the CD program.
An associate's is fine.
Books - http://www.half.com or http://www.amazon.com
The biggest advice? Ask yourself sincerely if you can study on your own and if you WILL do it on your own. Do you need someone to explain the reading or can you understand it without a lecture?

#1 ask your BON if they will accept Excelsior. Many Excelsior students are going through trying times with this same issue. Other than that I say go for it if you can devote the time to studying.
When I checked Excelsior website they mentioned two ways to go about the program. One way was with the CDs and I forgot the other. Will have to check it later. Through the Lpn program I did great with hands on and group studies. So I guess it depends on how the lecture is presented. Thanx for the response. Any help is great help.

Not sure about the CD program but basically you pay for the test, study and go to pearsonvue testing center and take the test. The test are 130-160 questions. They give you 9 months to complete the test but you will never finish if you take that long.EC sales practice test that help alot and they cost $65. There are all kinds of notes and learning material on EBAY. I bought some of the recommended books and college network modules and did fine. Not crazy about the notes that people sale. Couldn't really learn by them.
:heartbeat thanx for the info... is there any grants out there that will help through an online program??
not sure of the cut off dates but some have won scholarships through ec. some people jobs will help pay for them.
:heartbeatthanx....i will keep looking through excelsior website to get as much knowledge as i can....i am sure i will have more questions. thanx for your help....this site is real cool....i just happened to cross over it. i never heard of this site before......first time for everything i guess
