I've been debating to switching up my job/specialty for a while. I waited so long because I've had my license for less than a year. I plan to keep my agency job as PRN, but I want another atmosphere out of a skilled nursing facility. I am anticipating to give birth any time in March. So I am wondering is it ideal to apply for a new job when I'm about to give birth in less than 3 months? Or is there a specialty that is known to be easy-going that will hire me? Like a clinic or lab.

No, it is not ideal.

Kind of depends on how you define "ideal".
How do you see this playing out? Lay out what you see as best case scenario here.

I switched jobs when I was 5 months pregnant. I was in a really acute psych hospital and it wasn't safe. It is NOT ideal. You need to be at a job for a year to get FMLA if you don't have sick time, which you won't. My job was nice enough to let me take 8 weeks off or I literally would have had my son and been back to work in like 2 weeks. Don't do it, they have no obligation to keep you. The maternity leave in this country is trash, we don't even separate puppies from their mothers until they are 8 weeks but with humans nobody gives ****.
