HEY!

I just got accepted into the ABSN program at NJCU for this fall! And I'm super excited and freaked out all at the same time. I know its suppose to be super competitive and rigours, since its just 12 months long!

Are there any recent graduates or current students who can share some stories and experiences and some TIPS?!

I would love to hear back and find out more! (I am also applying to other schools but won't hear back from them until way after the non-refundable deposit is due, eeks! but this was my top choice)

Any advice and tidbits would be greatly appreciated!

Wow these are so helpful! As I'm reading them I'm picturing myself in all these different positions. I'm super nervous about all the studying, crazy exams and weird tests here and there that are required for us to take.

Thank you for posting all these quotes from the previous students. I can't wait to start in May, and see everyone at the orientation. I sent in the deposit today to secure my spot.

Yay! Good luck to us!

Some facts from the handbook,

  • Tuition for in-state is 10,307. For out-of-state is $14,073. Per semester, 3 semesters total. All about 20 some credits each.

I didn't see anything about dorms or on campus housing or options, anyone have information about that?

  • There is a medication calculator test at the START of EACH semester
  • We will need , $1 million, at least. (for clinicals i assume), I forgot the price I was quoted, someone feel free to add that in
  • Uniform is Hunter Green Top, White Bottom, and White shoes, has to be leather or non-porous material
  • Uniforms have to be worn during clinicals and labs
  • Professional (no T-shirt or jeans) street clothing for Psychiatric and Community Health Rotations (for obvious reasons)
  • Little to No jewelry, they say studded, 1 pair earrings only
  • Some clinical locations do require tattoes to be covered up
  • Clear or Light colored polish and trimmed nails, length should not be longer then fingers
  • Moderate Makeup and Hair kept back and off neck
  • Don't be late for class, even 10 minutes late counts as an absence, and if you get a certain amount, your in trouble
  • Keep a 2.5+ GPA at all times
  • Clinical Sites can be up to 60 minutes from the University itself, and you do NOT have the option of choosing.

Required Equipment

  • Wristwatch with Second hand
  • Stethoscope
  • iTouch (someone please expand on this if they have any information!!!)
  • Pocket Notebook
  • Penligh
  • Scissors
  • Pens

How is the program going for you?

  • iTouch (someone please expand on this if they have any information!!!)

That's usually a part of the tuition already. In the 2013 JC cohort, we got Ipad touches, it might have changed by now. There were talks of getting ipad minis. :)

Hi, Zibi. All your posts here are helpful. Thank you.

I'm considering applying to this program. I considered it years ago and didn't bc of cost (at that time it was 19k). Even though it's increased since, I find myself going back to this program.

Those of you who have graduated, how is your grade calculated? Do you have quizzes daily? Is your grade primarily made up of unit tests only? And are tests made up based on powerpoints? I know that it's an accelerated program, but I fear that so much info is gonna be thrown at us that we won't be able to absorb it all.
