New hospitals in Mesa

I am going to move to Mesa,AZ as soon as my house sells. I used to live there about 6 years ago and worked at the Lutheran Heart Hospital. It was going through it's growing pains at the time being a new hospital, but overall it was a good experience. I wondered if anyone knew how it was doing now or has worked there lately. Also I know there are some new hospitals springing up in the area. I am interested in the new Banner Gateway and Mountain Vista Medical Center. I wondered if anyone knows anything about them and where would be the best place to work. My specialty is cardiac telemetry.

Thanks

I know nothing about Lutheran Heart Hospital.

I know Banner Gateway and Mountain Vista are both very new and very small. I'm not sure how much of a cardiac telemetry unit they even have. Have you thought about Banner Desert at all, or is that too far west?

Lutheran Heart Hospital is now in the Banner System. It's called Banner Baywood Heart Hospital and is next to Banner Baywood Medical Center. I have heard good things about Banner Gateway Medical Center but they are going through the new hospital growing pains. You have so many options in the east valley with multiple new hospitals. The Banner system is my personal perference.

I hadn't thought about Mesa Desert. I know it is an older hospital. Have you worked there before Raindreamer?

I prefer the Banner system also. Thanks for the replies.

Nope, I've never worked at Banner Desert (although, I was born there! lol). But I've heard great things about it. And I just mention that because it's a bigger hospital compared to the others and therefore would probably have the unit you're interested in along with the good pay.

I worked Banner Desert for 12 years before moving out of the heat. I liked it and thought the place to be progressive in it thoughts. They were trying to get magnet hospital status when I left. My only c/o is that when they gave raises for increased area salary's , they didn't go across the salary range and give every RN an raise. It seemsed only the ones with say less than 5 years experience got the raises. I have 20+ years so I felt I lost salary ground every time. I like the physical layout of the rooms and nursing stations...

I have heard (could be wrong?) that Banner has the lower end of the pay range, compared to other systems. I personally would avoid newbie hospitals. It just depends what you are looking to accomplish? If you want to have a great resume and experience, expand your options (and commute): Scottsdale Shea? St Joes? AZ Heart Hospital? Mayo? If you want convenience to the Mesa are, then check out the local centers. I worked at Banner Desert (not as an RN though) for many years, and ran EMS in the East Valley; every place can have their downside. Just ask a lot of questions and tour the units. Takes more time, but it is worth it.

Banner actually has a very competitive hourly rate and is one of the highest for valley hospitals, up there with Scottsdale hospitals. But then again Banner doesn't have a pension and the benefits aren't as good as some other hospitals (CHW, County, etc). So it just depends what you're after exactly.

Has anyone heard anything(good/bad) about the Banner Heart Hospital CVOR? Is it a progressive program? How is the staff? Would you take your family there for heart or vascular surgery?

I took a huge pay cut when I went to Banner from Scottsdale. Banner has 49% of the labor market and this affords them control of nursing salaries. I do not believe Banner's salaries are competitive. However, in this market, they don't have to be.
