I will be starting a new home health job in a couple weeks. I'm half excited and half nervous. I have a lot of wound care experience and skilled nursing. Is there any tips on organization, scheduling, documenting....any tips anybody can give me to help me get started? I do have three children who are active in activities and just worry about getting them to their scheduled activities in the evenings.

Take some time to look through the home health forum and you will find many threads that address tips and organization. Some people have quite a system going in the trunk of their car and even in the back seat. Don't forget to pack a spare uniform and pair of shoes just in case.

I've been in HH for 6 months now, so I remember the beginning stresses/anxieties pretty well. I would say that organization is key in home health. The day before work, I take no more than a half hour to get everything ready, all my supplies, my lunchbox (I bring snacks instead of meals so I can always grab and go), my extra scrubs/shoes, and especially my clip board with reminders/to do notes/ and I even make boxes for each individual system on my scrap paper so I never forget to ask those questions/do that assessment. I would say the more organized you are, the more your schedule will stay on track...but just like anything in life, it'll take getting used to before you find out what works best for you. All the best to you and your new adventure!
Thanks guys so much!!! Any help is appreciated!
