Thinking of relocating

U.S.A. New Hampshire

I'm currently a PICU nurse in Oklahoma, but my wife and I are considering relocating to N.H. I was just wondering how the nursing situation is up there. I would hate to leave the PICU, but ICU or ED would be a nice change of pace.

If you go to the ONE academic med center in NH, (Dartmouth in Lebanon) you can find PEDI ICU experience... but be careful to say PEDI ICU...here, psych wards are also called PICU!! (BIG contrast!! LOL) Otherwise, ERs that are busy here are Concord, Elliot in Manchester - (CMC in Mchstr does mostly cardiac stuff).... And St. Joe's in Nashua. Other than Dartmouth, which has big and specialized ICUs...the other bigger ICUs are in Concord and Manchester - again, CMC does mostly hearts if that is something you are interested in. Good Luck! I hope you LOVE winter!!!

I okie. I am also an Okie. I just moved to NH 3 weeks ago. I just rec'd my NH license so I am starting the job hunt now. I moved to Center Harbor. The closet hospitals for me are Laconia and Plymouth. I have searched their web sites but am having difficulty finding out much. I will be going this week to look at them and I will let you know. Where in OK are you from? I moved from OKC and worked at Baptist for 7 years and Mercy for the last year. thanks

I'm originally from Blanchard, now living happily in Norman. Been working for the past few months at MWC regional hospital in the float pool. Had a son born last year and kinda lost my coping skills for the PICU. Starting my new job next week at JD McCarty Center working with those kids.

Welcome! I have friends in Broken Arrow.

Dartmouth is probably your best bet or working across the border in MA. There are some great hospitals in Boston as well as Lahey Clinic in Burlinton, MA.

You would also have the option of Portsmouth Regional Hospital (portsmouthospital.com) or hospitals in Southern Maine if you located out by the seacoast. The seacoast area is lovely and if you did decide on Boston area hospitals it is only an hour away.

I think you will love the countryside in New Hampshire and the low taxes (NO income tax!).

This weekend I took a ride up the mountains and fell in love with the state again. I think sometimes I take it for granted and forget where I am.
