New Graduate wanting to take the NCLEX

Published

Hello,

I am graduating with my Bachelor of Nursing in Perth, West Australia, December 2013. I have been lucky enough to secure a nursing graduate position for next year but would like to take the NCLEX while still in study mode. I am a dual citizen of the USA (where I am originally from) and Australia.

Does anyone know who I would have to contact to get the paperwork going to sit the NCLEX (I will be returning to Hawaii or possible Texas)?

My other question is how difficult is it to get a job as a new graduate in the States? Our degree required us to do 1200 clinical hours.

Thank for advise anyone can offer.

You are not applying for NCLEX but nurse license and each state has their own requirements. Be aware however many Australian nurses like a few other countries are missing obstetrics from their transcripts and without that you will not meet state requirements and be allowed to sit NCLEX. Suggest looking at the state BON website to see what requirements are and once graduated apply. Process can take 4-6 months
