New grads, where are you? What school did you go to? Was it hard for you to find a job? Did you take the first job that was offered to you? What are your experiences in the field vs the classroom?

Just wanted to make a friendly clarification: although you need 6 months of work experience before a DFW area bridge program will accept you, it does not necessarily need to be med/surg experience. If that was the case, virtually no LVNs would be able to bridge because the local hospital systems stopped hiring them several years ago. Most of my LVN colleagues who bridged to the RN license have never worked a day inside a hospital.I completed a private nonprofit LVN program in southern CA in October 2005, moved to D/FW TX in November 2005, took NCLEX at the end of December, received my CA license in January 2006 and my temporary TX license in February. I found a job the day after receiving my temporary TX license in the mail, but then again, the job market was better in '06 than it is today.

I saw that on the website, its changed now. I called and asked, forgot the person's name but I was informed it doesn't have to be med-surge anymore. Employment just has to be verified by the employer now. That makes it a little easier now to bridge.

I'm at a Long Term Facility in Ma. I attended a community college in Ma. Obtained my license November 2013. January 28 2014 God bless me with a job at LTF as an LPN. It was the first solid job that was offered to me. I went to so many interviews only to waste my time and their time. But I'm thankful I did! I currently still maintain my CNA license in hopes of getting a job at my old place becuase I'm already familiarize with their system. At my LTF job I worked in the rehab facility and it such so busy. Almost everyday there's an admission but its all a learning experience;so much to learned, so much to do in a very short 8hrs shift. I'm so thankful to have gotten a job and bless! There really is a different btw classroom nursing and real world nursing.
