New Grads or Soon to Be

Published

Any new grads or soon to be going to be or already applied to internships? Just curious to where and when anyone has?! :nurse:

Hey Sjoy,

I applied to more than one Versant program. I sent in all my paperwork over a month ago to a couple of places in TX offering the Versant Residency program. So don't give up hope. As for the the one through Seton, there is still always the October cohort.

When did you graduate? Are you only looking into specific areas or have you checked out all the areas that offer the Versant program in TX?

No matter what it is good to follow up once a week to check your status and verify the facility has what they need to process you. I wouldn't call it bugging them, just making sure all is taken care of on your end as well as letting them know how interested you are.

Congratulations on the job you do have. Granted it isn't what you wanted, it surely is better than nothing. And as long as you don't work there for over a year, you won't lose your new grad status and will have a chance at another Versant program starting in the Fall. So chin up! Eventually, you'll be where you want and need to be as long as you continue to stay proactive in reaching your goals.

Thanks I appreciate the response. I don't know what will happen in this position, whether I will like ie or not, but if it doesn't work out I will be in Seton for sure( if they move along with my app and all.) Congrats again!!!!!

futurenurse,

congratulations on versant!! I just found out about this tonight while doing some research and it really looked interesting and like I may POSSIBLY be able to enter ICU residency soon after graduation! I graduate next May and want to do my best to secure a spot in a program like this, if you don't mind, which hospitals did you apply to? basically all of them that offer it around here? How far in advance do you suggest applying? Thanks! And PLEASE keep me updated on how you like the program! Also, I know this may be a little probing but I couldn't find anything about whether or not it is paying, if you wouldn't mind letting me know how much do you guys make while in the program?

I will be interviewing for a position with versant next week and was wondering how the program is set up. I know there are two class days and two shift requirements per week. But I'm wondering if its set up with exams and practicums? I'm wrapping up an intensive 1 year second degree BSN. I have been taking 24 hours per semester and working 25 hours of night clinicals per week. I guess I just want to hear it wont be as stressful as what I'm currently doing (my three kids and husband are itching for me to be home more). Any input would be much appreciated.
