Can someone clarify exactly what an employer means when they place an ad for a nursing job that says "eligible for new grad"? I am a new grad and was told after my interview that I did not qualify for the job because I have no experience. Ummm hello I obviously have no experience if I just graduated last month! Any thoughts on this?

They are probably holding out for someone with experience. Or perhaps they are looking for a new grad who had completed an externship.

Yes externships are usually what they are looking for. Unfortunately I did not have the chance to get an externship. I am hoping to get hired despite that!
Thanks and I will continue to hope to get hired also!

Yeah, they are right but I know what you mean it is so frustrating...I had an externship, and a CNA position and still can't find a job, even the job I worked those positions said they can not afford any new grads not even internal workers....hang in there and we will all try to find something to hold onto....haha I know I hate the saying hang in there too, but I am trying to convince myself that there is something to hold onto.
Goodluck to all.......
