New grad title?

I am about to graduate on May 13th, my question is do I still work on my LPN license or is it now null and void? I work in a small Emergency Department started as the tech then LPN, they are going to allow me to continue to work untill I pass NCLEX and find another job. I am sure they would allow me to continue to work there but I feel I need to expierence other fields.

I believe your title would be GN or graduate nurse. In many states you can work as a GN until you pass the NCLEX.

Thank you for your reply. Any idea about the scope of practice for a GN?

State dependent. I know in Texas, the scope is essentially unaltered from that of an RN, except that it obviously only has a temporary duration. There's also a requirement not to practice in an independent setting, though it's vague-- no cosigning is required, for instance.

you need to check with your state bon. in my state you would not be allowed to work as a new grad. you would work as a lpn until passing the nclex. this is good since my state does not allow new grads to pass meds until licensed.

Yeah you have to check on your states BON, in many states they allow you to practice as a GN (graduate nurse) but that is certainly not the case for every state.

In NH, I have to pay for my GN which I can work under until I pass the NCLEX. I believe I can pass meds under supervision of an RN.
