Yeah byt at this point i would take the the job nonetheless, better than nothing for a new grad, and by the way @ yhammie015 do you have previous volunteer experience back at Ph.? Also being not US citizen yet we cant apply to those veterans hospitals (which are new grad friendly) cuz of their citizenship requirements, and again the "accreditation" problem none in the ph has "state accredited" school...were only considered Regionally accredited...unless you go to an accredited school here and study all over again.

Actually, if you graduated over one year passed your graduation date and year, the "new grad" positions are not possible, as it's not the month and year, one gets their RN license. Most hospitals require applicants to apply within their first year of graduating and have no experience to less than one year to be considered.

But there have been some recent postings from two kababayans who found hospital jobs in TX, look over the World forum, under the "Nursing Registration" tabs, it's buried in there. One had some volunteer experience in the Phils and landed a RN spot, not a new grad job and the other not stated if she had any experience from PH.

I see well, same freakin thing. Ca. was my port of entry back in Jan, i already knew how the Ca BON and the Concurrency problems they have with international graduates. So i went here in Fl. iv'e been searching for about 3 weeks now. but yeah, I never really walked in any hosp/facilities cuz i thought they are just gonna tell me to look online. anyways what facility/ies did you contact that told you they were gonna help you? so as to check it out myself too... im on the verge of enlisting in the military and i just dont wanna give up looking for a possible job yet... (sorry for wrong grammars and punctuations)

Don't do this military enlistment, I had a batchmate's friend (dual citizen) from two years ago who was so desperate to get a job, she did and nothing turned out as she thought. She's not only not a military nurse (get to be considered is even tougher than finding a regular nursing job) but may face deployment and this is for all the wrong reasons, she kicks herself every night. You want to become a military nurse if you want to serve the country as your primary purpose, not to find a nursing job.

yeah but i kinda have a passion for military too. and am well aware that im not gonna be an officer(miilitary nurse), and also aware of the deployments and stuff. So to think of it i have 2 options, put to hold my nursing career and go military or get Rn or Rn related job soon. Err and looking for jobs in a different state is possible but i dont think someones just gonna offer a guaranteed job. im still gonna look for jobs tho. It just stings me to look for other jobs than RN going through all the schooling, review, and what not. But if I think of military, I always wanted to be a soldier when i was a little boy(who didn't) and they'r gonna train me to be an EMT which is kinda related to nursing, im gonna have a citizenship earlier, and i can petition my mom(an EMT) and girlfriend(RN). so im kinda willing of the sacrifice. but then again im not gonna give up on job searching yet. but anyway hows your friend right now? im sure shes not out of the military yet. (cuz its 8 years of service)

@Code09 no, I don't have any volunteer experience in Phil except those counted during college. Haha... I moved in ithe US right after I passed my boards in the Phil.

Do you have connections in any hospitals? I was able to score an interview last week but didn't get the job. At least, they considered me. I'm still trying in that same hospital hoping this time I get a chance. I have a list of SNFs too that you can apply in person. Maybe we can help each other out since we have the same issues.

wow, yeah atleast u got an interview... what hospital? so far as for connections i do have relatives working in hospitals but they cant help much cuz they have no control over the human resources over at the hospital... think you could maybe email me the list and what hospital you got interviewed? I dont know if its my resume or what but i never got any interviews myself lol. this one hospital my cousin is working at, she gave a word to her boss about me but i didnt pass the personality test so they didnt even forward my resume over at the HR, and i cant apply for another 6 months so... i would gladly work with you in finding jobs.

and i do have a list of LTC centers around and near tampa, i applied most of them online but so far no responds yet... it maybe a good idea to walk in.

I was interviewed at FLorida Hospital North Pinellas. I didn't know hospitals give personality tests. That sucks!

I can give you my list too but its mostly around clearwater/st. Pete. What's your email? I think you should call them first before walking in and if they have openings. Some have openings and say its alright to walk in. Some doesn't have but welcomes walking in and they just keep your file with them. But still, it's better to know first if there's an opening so you don't waste time.

Yes, I had some help from my uncle coz he knew the unit manager. She still considered me even though I totally had no experience. Some will actually consider new grads even if the job posting says experience is needed just like the position i applied for.

The military is not a bad option. You would get trained and get experience. With a degree would you go in as an officer. Also, they pay for additional training. Coast guard seems good.
