I am a new graduate rn who starts orientation for a part time position this week at a ltc facility. I had a second interview with an acute facility and am wondering is two jobs possible? The long term is 8 hours shifts and requirements are 15 hours a week. The other position is med surge 3 12s a week. My other option is to just choose one?!

Two jobs is possible. I've always had two jobs since graduating, however I don't have kids or a social life so it makes it easy to work constantly.
I have not worked med surg as I am not an RN, but I have worked plenty of LTC and do not suggest it. It poses a lot of unnecessary stress. LTCs are usually very understaffed. Whatever you choose will be the right decision for you though.
Thank you for your honesty!! This is another reason why I continued interviewing!

Long time LTC nurse. If you can get your foot into the acute care setting, do it! Starting out LTC isn't easy. If it is your goal/ passion, then okay but both jobs as a new nurse....no.

I think you need to learn the ropes before you switch between acute care and long term care.
Best of luck whatever you decide.
