New Grad Programs in the bay area

Published

Does anyone know of any new grad rn programs around the bay area. I graduated in May from an RN program in the East Bay and am having a really hard time finding a job. I've applied to John Muir, Kaiser Walnut Creek and Antioch, and have not had any luck :banghead:. I had a baby in September, so I didnt go to work right after graduating and passiong NCLEX.

If any of you know of any new grad RN programs or hospitals in the bay area that accept new grads please let me know.:nurse:

Try these:

Selton Med. Ctr. (650) 992-4000 Daly City

CA Pacific Med. Ctr. (415) 600-4728 SF

Might help you out just to find out their programs and requirements. I mostly call HR and ask for who is in charged of New Grad Nursing Residency and even if they tell me that the program has been on hold bec. of lack of budget, request for previous info. and applc. packets just to size up the program. This will prepare you and you'll know what they expect of you.

Best of luck.

Hi,

I did try call them. They told me that they won't have until 2010. Losing hopes. Every day I woke up, I keep calling different hospitals, and either positions fill, or no program running, it is really sad ad depressed.

Did you find a job? let me know any thing going on...

Thanks,

There's already a thread for this. Check this link below, you might see some useful information:

Bay Area New Grad Programs

how do you find out about employment opportunities at Kaiser? their website is so confusing. i wonder if they have new grads programs. does anyone know?

Specializes in Emergency, Trauma, Critical Care.

Chau, Kaiser has not only stopped hiring new nurses, but they have been having layoffs in the northern california area. Additionally, the only open positions in their southern california facilities are for experienced nurses.

Specializes in Tele Step Down, Oncology, ICU, Med/Surg.

I'm a new grad RN living in the East Bay and am very discouraged. Feel like I've put my family thru hell and near financial ruin to pursue this crazy dream of being a nurse all for nothing. My advice is to look into the new grad residency programs offered through colleges. They are expensive--you basically pay to work--but at least you get a semesters experience under your belt and your RN does not go stale.

Wish you luck on your journey

Am researching RN schools in the Inland Empire. There are only two and the cheaper one of them (Everest College) is an ADN program. It seems like a new program; actually both of them are. What would you advise? Does the program you attended affect job placements or do employers just care you got a CA lincense?

Thanks.
