New Grad positions in Las Vegas

Published

Hey everyone!

I am a recent grad from California with no experience and I'm looking for new grad positions in Las Vegas. I have applied to multiple acute care setting job, however, only received one call back from a staRN program. Does anyone know positions other can acute care setting that hire new grads in Las Vegas? If so, please let me know. Thanks in advance :)

I did see a psych new grad posting. I will apply.

I'm also going to interview for acute care job in Reno, I'm expanding my search seeing as though I have not been able to get interviews in Las Vegas.

Good luck everyone ?

Im having problems finding any job as well as a new grad... so frustrating ?

In all honesty, it was very tough. It does take persistence, and looking at other options.

I finally landed a position in a new grad program but not in Las Vegas. ?

Wow, was it that hard really? Did you go to school in Vegas?

It was for me, however I did not go to school in Vegas nor was I from the area. That was something I was working against.

Ohh sorry to hear that. It's tough when you are a new grad.

Reopening this a few month later, and now in the middle of this crisis. I'm applying to jobs in Las Vegas, and I can't even FIND anything that seems open to new grads. I'll have a direct entry MS-Clinical Nurse Leader. Any feedback you guys have would be greatly appreciated!

I currently have a job lined up here in VA in an emergency department, but my fiance is relocating to Las Vegas in August. I'm having a really hard time trying to decide whether I should up and move if I'll only be able to work as an outpatient nurse somewhere, when I have an amazing 2 year nursing residency lined up here.

Congratulations on landing a job at the VA! I have some friends in the nursing residency program in the bay area and they love it.

I can tell you from my experience, and people will have differing thoughts. But I moved to Las Vegas because of my fiance as well and could only land outpatient jobs, it wasn't something that I wanted and did not enjoy. I returned to California when I landed a new grad position and have enjoyed and learned so much from my experience as an acute setting nurse. I've gained invaluable experience which I can carry to many settings.

Currently, I commute back and forth from the bay area to Las Vegas and things have worked out.

You might want to keep in mind that North Las Vegas does have a VA hospital. You can possibly start the nursing residency program then in the future transfer.

Good luck in all your future endeavors ?

WOW!, thank you for the super quick response! That does definitely help. I should have clarified though, I have a job here in Virginia, not at *the* VA LOL. If I stay in Virginia, it's definitely going to be a very long distance type thing.

LOL, well it's a little farther than my traveling.

Either way, still a great opportunity ?

Hi everyone!

I am re-opening this once again in hopes for some insight. I graduate this December (2020) from nursing school and found out a couple of weeks ago that my fiance and I will be relocating from NC to Las Vegas area for his job in January. I was wondering when the new graduate programs typically start out there? In NC they start in February and July. Where are the best places to apply? Is it difficult to land a new grad position? Looking for any insight that anyone can provide for me as this will be a major change and I am going in blind... thank you in advance!! ?

Unfortunately, the market for new grads in Las Vegas is even worse under COVID conditions. Las Vegas does not have a shortage of new grad nurses by any means. People want to live here and we have no state taxes. Plus nursing pay is pretty good here.

If you are looking for the StaRN program through HCA hospitals, look at Sunrise Hospital, Southern Hills Hospital, and MountainView Hospital. Those are the three here offering the program. I got into one at Sunrise a little over 2 years ago but passed it up for a psych position - my true love. It will take time and effort to get a new grad position here, especially during COVID, but persistence is what most people lack. If you are persistent, you usually get your way.

Please ask any questions you have. I am happy to help.
