  1. LOL, well it's a little farther than my traveling. Either way, still a great opportunity ?
  2. Congratulations on landing a job at the VA! I have some friends in the nursing residency program in the bay area and they love it. I can tell you from my experience, and people will have differing thoughts. But I moved to Las Vegas because of my fiance as well and could only land outpatient jobs, it wasn't something that I wanted and did not enjoy. I returned to California when I landed a new grad position and have enjoyed and learned so much from my experience as an acute setting nurse. I've gained invaluable experience which I can carry to many settings. Currently, I commute back and forth from the bay area to Las Vegas and things have worked out. You might want to keep in mind that North Las Vegas does have a VA hospital. You can possibly start the nursing residency program then in the future transfer. Good luck in all your future endeavors ?
  3. It was for me, however I did not go to school in Vegas nor was I from the area. That was something I was working against.
  4. In all honesty, it was very tough. It does take persistence, and looking at other options. I finally landed a position in a new grad program but not in Las Vegas. ?
  5. I did see a psych new grad posting. I will apply. I'm also going to interview for acute care job in Reno, I'm expanding my search seeing as though I have not been able to get interviews in Las Vegas. Good luck everyone ?
  6. Thank so much! Good luck with the job hunt! Sounds like a good plan, you just have to keep at it. Fortunately for me, I don't quit easily. I will get it and so will you lol
  7. I will be starting a job as a Preop/PACU nurse at an outpatient clinic, here in Las Vegas. I was holding out for a hospital job, lol. I applied to a Dialysis center and did an interview but didn't get hired. I got hired at a home health too but didn't want to take the job since I really want to develop my assessment skills. You will find something, just keep at it. I haven't lost hope and I've been at it awhile, lol.
  8. Honestly, it is frustrating. I have tried to get an acute care setting job since March but no luck. I totally agree with you! They say gain experience but without a shot it's hard to do so. Hope you find something!
  9. Hey! Unfortunately I wasn't able to find one. I know that the HCA healthcare system hires new grads for their StaRN program, aside from that I have not received any call backs from other hospitals. I've applied to many in the Las Vegas Area and now I'm looking elsewhere to see if I have better luck. Like you, I have no experience. Where have you applied?
  10. Hey everyone! I am a recent grad from California with no experience and I'm looking for new grad positions in Las Vegas. I have applied to multiple acute care setting job, however, only received one call back from a staRN program. Does anyone know positions other can acute care setting that hire new grads in Las Vegas? If so, please let me know. Thanks in advance :)
