Okay, so I found a new grad posting (rare), and the want ACLS (which I have), but also:
Basic Cardiac Monitoring Certification and Telemetry Certificate required.
Are those easily obtained? How do I do it? Are there online ones?
Do I need these if I have ACLS? Are they just trying to hire their monitor techs that went to nursing school?

I'm a new grad and got bls updated and acls and pals cert'd after I graduated. I also found a "Basic Cardiac Monitoring Certification" (ie Telemetry Cert) that I took through Dignity Health in Sacramento. It was three days (three Wednesdays over three weeks) long in a classroom. Not sure if there are online only options. It is different than ACLS.
Not sure whether you have access to any courses in your area or not. I know the feeling ... it can really difficult to find/sign up for some of these courses. Maybe try calling some local hospital HR or Nursing Education Depts and get their help/advice.
Good luck.

AHA does an online-only Basic Dysrhythmia course, that's probably what they mean. It's quite good. How did you do with your rhythms on ACLS? If you are good with your rhythms ask if you can test out of the basic dysrhythmia requirement: most floors will let you. If not ask them which course they prefer, they may have their own in-house one or pay for you to take the AHA basic dysrhythmia during your orientation (if they are a good floor and care about you knowing your rhythms right).
They are not trying to hire their monitor techs. I assume if you need ACLS this is a telemetry/PCU floor at least. Nurses on those floors are supposed to know just as much about rhythms as the monitor techs, though I always respect my MTs' opinions bc they literally stare at this stuff all day, in most cases for 20 years or more. However when they give me the strips some put their opinions but it's MY responsibility to write what I think the rhythm is and sign my name on them. We don't let med-surg nurses who float to our floor do that, the charge will do it for them.
