New Grad Pay in San Antonio

To all new grads that got hired in the last couple of years at a San Antonio hospital what was your starting pay? Does anybody know the starting pay for a BSN new grad at San Antonio hospitals? Do they get paid more than an ADN new grad? I'm going to get a call from HR with the offer this week for Methodist hospital.

I just want to know if BSN's get paid more and the pay range for new grads in San Antonio so I know if I'm getting low balled.

Wow, TX pay still lagging behind. Moved from there to CA, where the pay is about 3x as much....and ratios to boot! Hoping the rest of the county comes to terms with paying their nurses what they are worth, and hoping Obamacare has forward thinking as well.

Well, you have to consider the cost of living of Tx vs CA. It costs a lot less to live in (most of) Texas vs Cali.

I do agree pay rates have been lagging.

Starting pay for RN's around here has not changed in about 5 years.

What part of TX are you from? Everything you said is true. BUT... now that I'm living and working in TX I realize how dirt cheap it is to live here compared to Cali. So even if the pay is low, it is still comfortable relative to the cost of living here. I use to think it's about how much you make but you have to factor in cost of living. A new grad nurse in Socal can't afford a house in a good area on their salary alone. A new grad nurse in San Antonio or Houston can within a year.

The only nurses that are making a killing compared to everyone else are staff nurses in Sacramento and the Bay Area. I'm still trying to figure out that one.
