New Grad Pay In Oklahoma

U.S.A. Oklahoma

Published

I will graduate nursing school next December and I am wanting to get some info from actual practicing nurses in Oklahoma on the pay I can expect to get as a new grad. I am wanting to work in either the ED or ICU. By the time I graduate I will have over 3 yrs paramedic experience. Will this be counted toward experience pay? Thank you

Your experience won't raise your pay. ICU and ER pay the same as every other specialty, so that won't help you either. If you can get hired into float pool that pays a small amount more. Salaries vary quite a bit by location, so I'm going to need to know where you're located to be specific. Tulsa area pays the most compared to cost of living.

New grad pay may vary by facility, but each facility will pay all the new grads that were hired the same rate initially. Depending on your facilities use of the clinical ladder, your pay will increase based on area you work, experience, and national board certification in your specialty. At my facility in Tulsa I started in the ED as new grad 1.5 years ago. My official position was RN I. Because ED and ICU are both critical care areas you are automatically transitioned to a RN IV after one year experience, with that comes an increase in pay over that of your annual raise. Also, my facility pays a board certification flat rate for my certification (Board Certified Emergency Nurse, CEN). Other things to consider are shift, night, and weekend. These can dramatically change your average hourly rate.

Hope this helps. Also, what school are attending?

I was given this information today by the recruitment person. This is for OU (OU Medical Center, Children's Hospital, and OU-Edmond).

New grad base pay: $19.75 per hour

Evening differential (3p-11p): $2.35 ($22.10)

Night differential (11p-7a): $2.60 ($22.35)

Weekend differential (11p on Friday-7a on Monday): $3.00 on top of the $2.60 night diff. so $5.60 ($25.35)

Where in Oklahoma are you located? The vast majority of hospital systems in the OKC metro area will start a new graduate RN off in the $19 to $20 ballpark range.

Not true. I had 2 years of medic experience and MWC hosptital gave me a dollar more than the average new grad. Alliance Health in Midwest City pays the most for new grads. 23 something for all. I received 24 something plus night and weekend differential. Check your facts before giving facts girly.

You might want to check the dates on any posts to which you reply before responding in such a knee-jerk manner.

If you had been more attentive regarding the dates prior to replying, you would have realized that all of the previous posts to this thread were made in 2013. In addition, none of the respondents are anyone's girly. Thanks in advance.

You're posting 2016 information, so of course it will not reflect what was being paid back in 2013.
