One of my classmates said that the local hospitals are going to increase the new grad pay by about $1/hr, has anyone else heard this? Also, I thought it might be nice for those of us that are getting ready to graduate to post a thread on what the hospitals are offering new grads as far as benefits etc. Here is what I've heard....St. Joes- 23.10/hr, 18% shift dif, 10% weekend dif, paid Kaplan courseBanner- 24.25/hr 20% shift dif (just increased)I know the new Mt. Vista hospital pays pretty well, but I'm not sure what they pay new grads. Thanks,Keli

They went up by about $4/hr at that time.I haven't heard they're planning on increasing any time soon.Banner doesn't have a pension. I know MMC and CHW hospitals have pensions, not sure which others do, but I know it's not all that common anymore.
Calzonan RN 515 Posts Nov 6, 2007 I talked to a couple of different hospitals and here's what I was told...St. Joes $23.60/hrChandler Regional/Mercy Gilbert $24.10/hrBanner $24.25/hr.St. Joes offers a Kaplan review course on site and pays you while you're taking it. Banner will reimburse you for most of your Kaplan course (or NCLEX review course) and pay you for your time as well. Both pay as an extern II during the review and until you get your license. My friend already works at Mayo, so maybe he was just talking about Mayo increasing their new grad pay. I'm not sure about Scottsdale HC or any of the others I haven't checked with them yet.Keli (trapped in my den, studying for the final)
HJS27 251 Posts Specializes in Med/Surg/Tele/Acute Rehab. Nov 10, 2007 The banner shift dif went from 15% to 20%. However, at the same time you no longer get the shift dif for PTO. We figure it's a wash for most people.
