Hello! I am in Ohio and I was wondering what the market for new grads was like. I wont graduate until 2015 but I am considering moving out of state if I dont want to stay in Cleveland. I have heard U of C hospital is a great place to work. Does anyone currently work there?

I have worked there in the past. It's a good facility. The new grad market here is HIGHLY competitive. In order to get your foot in the door as a new grad in the hospital systems here in Denver, you really need to get into one of the new grad programs. UCH and Children's both have new grad programs. Some of the other hospital systems may have them too, not sure. The application deadlines are around March or April for the summer programs, I believe.

I just moved to CO and my bf who had a year experience had a really tough time getting a job. I have 4 years experience and got a job quite quickly.... I'd say, if you have an "in" where you are, take it and do your 2 years. Get certified and make yourself competitive, then move!

It's a bit rough, to be honest. There are some teaching hospitals that take new grads and invest in them, but MANY in the area are rather wary of us in general. Most want one to two years minimum of experience, with an emphasis on BSN, and that makes the market really rough. If you can get experience before moving, that would likely help you out a lot more than trying the grad positions here.
