Specializes in long term care, nursing home.

Hello, I have had my lpn for several months and actively looking for work in IL. I have experience working in a nursing home for almost 2 years (not current job). I am getting frustrated looking for a job or just getting an interview. Any advice on facilities willing to hire a new grad is greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance :)

Specializes in Urgent Care, transitioning to Hospice.

What part of Illinois are you looking in? I am sure you have looked over your resume and made sure that all of your amazing strengths are played up, right? :) I am an LPN, graduated last June, and maybe got lucky, but everyone in my class had jobs within a month, really. I personally listed my clinical sites in my job history with what skills I had been taught at each of them.

Good luck! I have heard a lot lately (the last 3-4 months) how frustrating it is here in Springfield area.

You might want to look at tech positions at NMH. I know it's below your licensure, but I have heard a rumor that the union techs at NMH make as much if not more than some LPNs. Just something to consider.

I am a new LPN in Brandon, FL and I am also experiencing difficulties locating a job. I keep hearing, you have to have 6 months to 1 year of experience. It is so frustrating. I wish you luck, and if anyone knows of anything in my area please let me know. Thanks!
