Considering leaving nursing b/c of low job market for new grads
I feel exactly the same way. I have been licensed since July 2010 and still no LPN job. However I am blessed to have a job. It does not pay well and it at a call center. It is very discouraging to keep putting your resume out there and going on interviews with no callback. I know that I need to get back in school and ultimately receive my RN but by the looks of things, it is a waste of time and money. Lets face it, if u have no experience, facilities/companies are not willing to hire u. This is very frustrating but nursing is my heart. I couldn't picture myself being happy doing anything else but the bills need to be paid and I can't withstand another loan right now. I just pray that something comes through for me and soon. I will pray for u too

No experience LPN working agency
I was just employed by a nursing agency and I have 0 experience as a nurse. I've been licensed for a few months but no job. The agency called me to pick up a shift at a nursing home for some good $$. Should I take it and gain the experience while also putting my license on the line? Or pass it up and wait on a job that will orient me? All advice is greatly appreciated :)

frustrated new grad lpn in il with no job
At this point, i don't even care where I work. I have worked in a LTC facility before as a CNA and it wasn't so bad. I just want to gain 1 yr experience so that I can get a better job and go back to school for my RN. I have been applying to all jobs posted on careerbuilder, monster and indeed but I have gotten 0 calls and 0 interviews. I'm just feeling discouraged. samirish- i saw the open house for 3/3 and even that requires 1 yr experience but I will contact them to see if I can still go. carolyncohoon- I really want to go back to school for my RN but the plan was to get my LPN then work for a few months for experience and start a bridge program which requires LPN experience.

frustrated new grad lpn in il with no job
Hello, my name is Dominique. I have previously posted in this forum and sorry if u have to read this again. I have been licensed as an LPN for several months now and still looking for work. I'm feeling kind of hopeless because I have no experience as an LPN but do have experience as CNA. Everywhere I apply requires 1 yr experience. If u have any information on jobs in IL of any sort, please share! Thank you :)

New grad LPN looking for work
Hello, I have had my lpn for several months and actively looking for work in IL. I have experience working in a nursing home for almost 2 years (not current job). I am getting frustrated looking for a job or just getting an interview. Any advice on facilities willing to hire a new grad is greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance :)

2009 Grads! Come 1 Come ALL!
hello all! i am 22, long time relationship, no kids, and may 08 grad w/ my associate in arts. i work as a cna at a nursing home and am absolutely in love with the nursing field! i just got my acceptance letter yesterday! i start in august and graduate in june 09. i'm am soooo excited and eager to attend the lpn program. i have been to 2 junior colleges and 1 university and after not being accepted to neither nursing program, i decided to do lpn school so that i can work and then take the bridge to obtain my rn or bsn. i almost gave up hope after i figured that nursing was such a competitive field but god led me thru it. i took the entrance test and i failed by 1 percent in math and a high score in reading. i cried when i got the rejection letter but after encouragement from my boyfriend, i took the test again 2 days later and passed! i am so thankful, blessed and excited that i will finally be living out my dream, proving people wrong and giving my family something to be proud about! i am proof that faith works and u should always follow your dreams. good luck and keep in touch! :stdnrsrck:
