New Grad Looking to Relocate (Help!)

Nurses General Nursing

Published

Hello All,

I am currently a nursing student in Nebraska attending UNMC and will be graduating in early May, 2015. I for sure know that I want to move out of state and have interest in California, Florida, Texas, and Colorado. Does anyone have any suggestions of what hospitals to apply to in these states and pros and cons of each? I'm really at the beginning point of my search and would love any input, insight or tips at all. Thanks so much!

I would look at all of the websites you can from these areas and see who takes new grads. I would also look into the licensing requirements of each state once you receive your license for the state you are currently in.

Best wishes!

Lucky you, NE is one of the compact states! If I were you I'd get my license in NE and look for jobs in compact states. I got a license in one state, couldn't find a job there, had to get a FL license, then got a job. Hundreds of dollars wasted on a license I won't use now.

I was also interested in Cali and Colorado, but it seems they've got too many nursing schools and not enough jobs. I'd skip those if I were you.

California is already super saturated with new grads so I wouldn't recommend it unless you are really serious about moving there

Thanks everyone! Where are you all located? What are the pros of nursing where you're at?
