new grad looking for a great job

Nurses Career Support

Published

I recently graduated and got my RN-ADN. I am currently working as a graduate nurse in mental health. I enjoy mental health but it can be extremely stressful and emotionally draining at times. I don't want to give up on it all together but would like to find something where I can utilize my medical skills before I forget it all. I have previous experience as a CNA in nursing homes. Any suggestions?

Specializes in Critical Care; Cardiac; Professional Development.

New grad jobs are scarce and highly competed for right now. My advice would be to apply for anything and everything and do NOT quit your current position until you have a written job offer with salary and firm start date outlined in it.

Sadly I have to agree. New grad positions are slim. VERY slim. I ended up working temporary positions such as flu shot rn until I landed a job and that was a few years back. Best of luck. Apply everywhere and anywhere to get a year of experience

Apply everywhere, then follow up by calling the Nursing recruiter after a couple of days. With so many applicants, you want to put a voice to your resume. New grad jobs are hard to get, but theyre out there you just have to be aggressive. Good luck!
