Hi Oregon Nurses-
I am a new grad RN with a California License who is looking to relocate to Oregon, anywhere in the state. Are they in need of new grads anywhere in the state? I have my ACLS, BLS and I graduated Magna Cum Laude from my BSN program. Any information would be appreciated.

Hi
I'm a new grad since Dec. still looking for a job. I have also been looking in Washington I now have my license in both state I also ACLS & BLS cert I graduated with BSN from Gonzaga. I did my capstone in ICU with 3 extra shift with the Rapid response team. My parents work at a main hospital in Portland and can't get me an interview and they both have worked there for over 25 years. All of Portland is not running any new grad program.
It is frustrating to work so hard to get in to a nursing program and then get done and no jobs to be had. Wish you luck finding a job here most hospital are cutting peoples hours that have jobs.

Look into Salem Hospital. This spring they had 40 new graduate positions open - not sure if they are all filled yet. They are only open to BSN graduates.
I did have three interviews there but I didn't get it was PCU and ICU I was one of the top five for the job I thought I had it then I didn't get it:cry: they had over two hundred applicant they said. Almost also Got a job at Tacoma General in the intermediate care unit also finalist 60 applicant for 4 positions. She said they only had it post for five days. I got email she told me that I was won of the top people. That she had a few more interviews and would know by that Friday. Again didn't get close but know cigar. I'm still apply to everything I find. One time it will be me maybe third times a charm:yeah:Thanks

Stay in California, get some experience down there then try applying to a rural town.

I feel for you guys! Please go to Good Samaritan online and apply for either New Grad CCU Program or Meg-Surg positions! Good luck!

Wow, I didn't realize that it was so bad everywhere. I know that OR is considered to be an excellent place to practice nursing because of the wide scope of practice, compensation and low cost of living. Should I just be grateful that as a new nurse that I have a couple of jobs lined up, even if they are in Chicago?

Here is a news segment regarding this situation in the Portland Metro Area: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JgydCh2BTYY
(the segment could be better, and the news reporter sends a couple of inaccurate messages, but the description is good).
Also,
Here is a USA Today article: http://www.usatoday.com/news/health/2010-07-09-1Anurses09_ST_N.htm

Stay in Cali if you can, No jobs too many grads in the Portland area, I lived in Vancouver in the Portland area. I had to move to Utah to finally land a job. 700 new grad nurses applied to the new grad residency program at Legacy health, that tell you how bad it is.
