  1. For me the State Hospital process was much quicker. I had an offer from Coalinga 1 month after sending in my application. It was quick so it just depends on your timing. I start next week so the total time from sending in my application to starting is less than 2 months. Good luck.
  2. Thanks myron6ny- I have been to Coalinga several times in the last few months so I know how small it is. I don't mind it that much though and I think I may just live there to cut down on gas cost. Thanks for the info.
  3. I wanted to know if anyone is starting at Coalinga State Hospital on May 4th. I still need to get a place to live. Is anyone starting or does anyone who already works there have any living advice for me? Thanks!
  4. I got a no from the transplant unit last week. Congrats to everyone who made it.
  5. Hey bouncy- I would love to talk to you about the state hospital process. I have already had an interview at one and have 2 more interviews set up. I can't PM you until you have 15 posts but I think you could PM me. I would love to talk to you about it. newgrad82
  6. Well I am thin, in my twenties but not blonde. I guess thats why I don't have a job. Its the hair. I feel like you are using young nurses as a scape goat. Its bad for everyone!
  7. I am confused about why there is a staff shortage at your facility when there are so many new grads that can't get a job. Where are you... maybe I will relocate there.
  8. caliotter- where did you relocate to?
  9. Hello everyone- I'm one of those new grads that is having a hard time getting that first job. I feel blessed that I am able to relocate and I have heard people talk about states, such as Texas, Wisconsin, Iowa, New Mexico, that are "actively recruiting" and will take new grads. Well, does anyone know how I get recruited? The deal is this, it has taken me months to understand the market in California and the thought of starting over in a new state, especially a state I know very little about, is daunting. If there is a dire need somewhere, I would much rather be recruited and just go. Does anyone have any information that would be helpful? Thank you!!!

  11. Sutter, UC Davis Med Center, Air Force, Army, a travel nurse company... did I miss any. Honestly, no one was actually hiring. The most positive thing I heard was, "well we DID hire a few grads in January, so it does happen." DISMAL!!!!
  12. I moved back to California Sep 08 right after I graduated from an east coast school. I still don't have a job. I agree with everyone who has posted so far. Get a job there and continue to monitor the situation here.
  13. Not me. Hopefully the economy hasn't caught up with UCLA too. I am worried they wont add any new spots after all.
  14. Ha, I'm sure they recieved your packet and then lost half themselves. Anyone else begining to hate HR?
  15. WildcatFanRN- CONGRATS!! I graduated last September (08) and still don't have a job. Your story, and triumph, gives me the strength to go on!
