Hi everyone! I am graduating from Johns Hopkins with my BSN at the end of July!!! I plan to move up to live with my boyfriend- he currently lives in Manhattan but we would like to live in Jersey, like the Hoboken/West NY/Union City area... Since I am not familiar with the area, I figured I would see if any of you guys knew of hospitals/RN residency programs close to that area or even in Manhattan that had good reputations for new grads or for pediatrics!! I have looked into several such as JFK medical, NYU, NY Pres, Hackensack, Children's Specialized, Mt. Sinai...
Anyone know how much more entry level RNs typically earn in NYC compared to Jersey?
other thing I need to decide is which state I should get registered in.... the NY process seems less intense and is cheaper but I also think I am more likely to get a job in NJ. How annoying is it to transfer liscenses? why aren't they compact states
any words of wisdom on these topics or related topics would be well appreciated. thank you!!!

Start applying for jobs now and then apply for licensure in whatever state offers you a job. I had my job secured by this time of my senior year of college. If you don't hurry all the new grad positions will be gone by the time you start looking. Also, you don't "transfer" licenses. You apply for licensure by endorsement. You maintain your original license.

Your moving into a tough, tough area. I think summer residencies would already have been posted/filled by now but I think you would have a better chance getting any sort of job in NJ over NY. Not the say that the NJ market is any better than NYC...
that would make the most sense except that our school is encouraging us to submit the application for signing up for the NCLEX now because it takes so long to get our ATT #
