New Grad jobs in Chicago (ADN)

Hello, I am graduating from my ADN program in the spring and REALLY want to move to Chicago. I have heard that some of the hospitals require a BSN in order to get employed, but I was wondering if there are any exceptions in the city. I will be starting an RN>BSN program ASAP. Thanks in advance for your input :)

I can't tell you about any specific new grad programs in Chicago. Hospitals seem to like both experience and a BSN. However, in my opinion, they prefer experience. It seems like there are many BSN grads and even MSN grads looking for entry level jobs, perhaps related to lack of experience. At least, I've observed this at my workplace. There are lots of schools with nursing programs in the city and many programs that offer on-line BSN education so degree's do not appear to be a shortage here. Sometimes, ADN graduates WITH experience are hired with the condition that they are enrolled in a BSN completion program. It's a large city with a very competitve nursking market. That does not mean you won't get hired, but you may not have many choices, especially if you are searching for employment in a particular specialty. Flexibility is important. If your willing to move to some of the further suburban areas of IL, or rural areas, and commute, there are more opportunites.
