New Grad - are HR walk-ins okay?

Published

New grad trying to move (currently visiting) a new city/state. I've submitted online applications to the hospital in the town I'm visiting, and I'm curious if I can step into HR to get my face and name in front of them? If so, should I call in first?

I saw a similar post on this from 2014, and most people seemed to think it would be a bad move, but I'm wondering if the practice has changed based on how approachable the HR departments were when I was doing student rotations back where I went to school?

When I moved to Seattle (late 1980s) the walk-in thing was OK. Not great, but OK. I'm not thinking it is any more. You've submitted an application online, I hope. Nurse Beth might have some current advice, but I would think calling would be more professional than just dropping in.

In addition to what Ruby said, consider that for some facilities, HR isn't even located on site. HR for my facility is in an office building miles away.
