Iam a new graduate RN I landed a dream job at an outpatient surgery center
(low acuity) of course. I will be trained in the OR three days a week and the Recovery room 2 days a week. I know this is unusual for a new grad to get this type of job. I am pretty scared besides my 3 month rotation in OR and PACU I obviously have little experience. I catch on quick and learn quickly. I will have a 90 day oreintation then they will see if I learned enough to keep me or "cut ties". I am scared to death I want to do the best I can they recommended a book for me to review about OR procedures ect. For anyone else out there who can give me some important tips about outpatient OR nursing or recovery please please give me some tips that will help me survive while I train. I would appreciate it.

I think it would be hard to learn 2 specialty areas at once.

I did my preceptorship in an outpatient settting. We did a lot of endoscopies on one side and a lot of minor surgeries on the other like ear tubes, gall bladders, appendectomies, etc. I did pre-op as well as post-op. I didn't find it difficult at all to learn all the different areas. It was very interesting and never boring either. I'd work there now if they were hiring.
I know it will tough i strive on stress and work well under pressure Im sure it will come in handy. And, I wont get bored!!! I just dont wanna mess up so bad that after my 90 days I get the boot.. I think because its a private practice owned by 9 doctors its gonna be alot of figuring out what the doctors like and their little things..of course patient care but that part comes easier for me lol..anyhow anyone else have any tips let me know thank you everyone
