New grad...desperate for a job

Published

Hi everyone, I am a new grad who've been looking for job for a while now....so far I haven't had any luck, not even one interview. I live in NY but I am willing to relocate. I am open to all shifts and all facilities....if anybody know of anywhere in NY, except for upstate, that's hiring please let me know, I don't know what else to do.

Specializes in Peds.

Princess....not true about one year experience, I know from personal experience, and other nurses I know that I have worked with............most agencies say they like to see a years experience but that is not an absolute...... I graduated from nursing school.....not a bit of experience other than with my own child who is medically involved.....which "professionally" doesn't count from most of my experience in job searching.......an agency will do in service training if needed...and you get orientation to a patient before even working with them....

try PSA, NurseCore, and Maxim......they are agencies that hire new grads.....

hmmm??....I do remember saying that most and not all require one year of experience. I was actually refering to hopitals mainly because I know plenty of agencies in California that do not even check your previous experience(they just want the money). I know plenty of nurses(including my sister) who went to a registry with no experience, but a lot of new grads are having a hard time finding a job because most jobs with a hospital or agency say atleast 1 year experience(I found a few that say 6 months), but hospitals are more stringent with their requirements.

I have posted a list of jobs for new grads in my previous post.

Who Cares??????:anbd:

I was merely offering a suggestion to another poster in seeking an avenue to obtain a job....and you did state " I would not recommend it" .....I have worked at a hospital with no experience beforehand myself...and others I know as well..........

No one should be recommending or not recommending anything unless they are experts in that area and have studied in that area for many, many years before even remotely offering their recommendations about it.......

Wow!...I don't know if it is my grammer or what it is, but you are taking what I said the wrong way... I keep reading these post about new grads trying to find jobs. I thought I'd help out by trying to find jobs and post them on here because I was once struggling with the way the economy is now. I went from being in med school to deperately trying to get a job and get into any nursing program so I know how it is...

Regarding agencies ...I was just merely stating that I did not think it was a good Idea to apply without experience eventhough they do not check....this is the advice I give everyone because my sister worked for an agency straight out of school because they pay her $600 a day! She did have ea lot of experience as a CCT though, but I still do not reccomend anyone to do this...they did not give her any training....she just went right to work....she admitted to me that she was not ready and went back to get experience...so again...I do not reccomend anyone to do this...just my :twocents:

I am not an expert and I am not trying to prentend to be one. If this is affending the original poster in any way then I will stop wasting my time researching jobs. I do not want to take over the post with argruments..I just want to help in any way I can...that is the reason why I got into the field.:redbeathe:nurse::redbeathe
