New Grad in California -- Desperate help needed!!

U.S.A. California

Published

Hi everyone. I'm not sure if there's a thread that has already been made concerning this topic, but I really need some help on this!

I'm a new grad (since June 07) and I've been applying to several hospitals in the bay area and sacramento since then (even before graduation, actually) and have yet to receive a call back from any of those hospitals! I've heard the job market is really bad around this area, but I'm ready to make a move anywhere else, if need be, to get into a new grad training program! Would anyone be able to guide me in the right direction as to where to apply? I'm getting really discouraged.. I thought nurses were desperately needed in Cali?

If someone could tell me of a new grad program starting up anytime soon for which they're still accepting applicants (preferably within California), I'd really really really appreciate it!! I just want to start working already. I'm soo passionate about nursing and I've wanted to be a nurse ever since I was a little girl. Now that I have finally obtained my RN license, and have achieved my dreams of earning the title of an RN, I want to put it to action!! If someone could just give me an opportunity to even prove myself by calling me for an interview!! I'm so frustrated. PLEASE HELP!!!

Since CA implemeted the ratios, this has attracted many nurses to CA, and it's now getting hard to find a job.

The issue is more with the space limitations of the new grad programs. If the nurse has some experience, then the job search is not difficult. Not having experience as an RN and requiring a new grad orientation is what is making it harder. Plus the fact that there are many new grad programs now directly in the Bay Area and many facilities hire from students that have rotated thru their hospital and they are familiar with them.
