Hello! I'm about to start my excelsior adventure but I'm a little lost as to how to start. I am pretty sure I'll have to take A&P and also that info literacy class.
I have heard you can take several classes without enrolling first....how does this work? I've also read that a nursing class can be taken with actually starting the nursing program.
I am planning on taking to the school itself soon, but I would love if someone who doesn't work for the school could shed some light on the best way to go about this.
I know there is a lot of info out there but it is really scattered. If anyone has any inside on how to start I would really appreciate it!

You can take up to so many credit hours before enrolling, there is only one nursing class you can take prior to enrollment and that is transitions. Pretty sure that's correct but I've been doing so much reading and studying lately my brain is foggy!

Have you gone through Excelsior? I read one of your other posts prior to this one, and you have a some negative things to say about the program. I work at a military hospital and one of the officers I work with completed Excelsior and I work with two enlisted people who just finished the program. Yes I have heard the clinical portion of the program is rigid but that's not a reason to dismiss the entire program. I am currently enrolled in Excelsior's ADN program and despite the challenge I feel blessed to be in this nursing program because at this point in my life I cannot go to a traditional nursing school. Anyways Ahinman, you can you use study group 101, flash card, amongst other things on allnurses.com to help you. Good Luck

my poor girl friend and some friends did the program,I beg her not to,too go to a regular school, she didn't listen, now I have to deal with all her depression, and PTSD,How do 4 out of 5 lpns fail this cpne, and all of them are have been nurses for 5 years + ,not knocking them, just remeber do your home work, and buyer beware, there is a reason California wont take them, and if you are interested in travel nursing, cali is the place to go,great weather, great pay.
