New Excelsior Curriculum vs Old Help!

Nursing Students Online Learning

I didn't enroll until December 2007 so I'm part of the new curriculum. I have some of the Nursing Concepts from the college network. Is anyone in the new curriculum using the old stuff to study from??? I really don't want to buy all new stuff. Help!!!

Specializes in EMS, ED, Trauma, CEN, CPEN, TCRN.

I think that the older materials will still be very useful for the new curriculum. The new curriculum (at least the nursing exam portion) seems to be more about reorganization rather than new materials. The only truly new things I'm aware of are a couple of things in the Chronicity exam -- one on assessment and one on end-of-life care. But I did my exams under the old curriculum, so I could be wrong. :)

The bottom line -- ALWAYS tailor your studies to the contents of the EC exam content guide, and cross-check your learning with that guide. This will ensure you learn the things EC wants you to learn for the exam. It worked very well for me, anyway. :)

And consider the advice of many to take the practice exams. The questions on these exams will give you an indication whether or not you are on track with your studying.

I've had the pleasure (or displeasure) of being enrolled in Excelsior twice at two very different time periods and can speak from experience that there have not been too much in the way of changes concerning the content of exams. As long as you do as Lunah suggested, you should be just fine.

I was only able to find Content Guides for the first two tests (Health Safety, Health Differences). Is there another place on their website that you know of that has all the Content Guides for all the new exams? Or are the other new exams comprised of a mixture of the contents from some of the other Content Guides (Ex.: Fundamentals of Nursing, Maternity Nursing)? Sorry for the weird question. Just need a little clarification.

Thanks.

They won't give you access to the other course contents until you apply and pay the enrollment fee.Once you apply they will send you an email and give you access to the other course content for the rest of the Nursing exams.

Thank you. The content guides help with the studying. I was actually able to get some of the recommended journal articles they suggest you read at the Medical Library at the University where I work.

I just learned you have to enroll if you want to be able to view the content guides for anything beyond essentials safety and essentials health differences. Once you enroll you are able to view all the essentials, and Old Nursing Concept content guides so you can compare.
