new to dialysis

Hi. I am an experienced RN (tele, ICU) and am just starting my journey into dialysis. And I am excited and needed to sorta YELL IT FROM THE ROOF TOP SOMEWHERE!!!

Sorry, I just wanted to get that out. And I know, give it 8-12 months, the newness & novelty will wear off etc etc. And i'm not one of those always annoyingly happy & energetic (but I do always aim for happy & bubbly, in a quiet way) But I'm just so excited to learn the physio of it and fully understand the process. In orientation, we just got a rather decent size reference guide/book (more like a everything-you-ever-wanted-to-know-about-dialysis-and-more!!!) and I'm just ecstatic to open it & dig in!!!

Ok, I'm done now. Thank you for letting me express my enthusiasm!!! :cheeky:

I remember a cardiologist who always advised the house staff "the patient didn't read the book". If ever there was a group of patients that didn't read the book it is dialysis patients. Welcome and good luck.

Congrats! I've done dialysis for 24 years now and love it! Good luck!!!

Love hearing this & congrats! I've been an RN since '05. Most of my experience has been on Med/Surg/Urology floor. However, the past 4 years I worked with a pharma buisness (desk job teaching over phone). Past 2 yrs I've started missing the "arts & crafts" side of nursing, but not really wanting to go back to the hostile environment of the hospital. I applied for a dialysis position & have a phone interview tomorrow. Based on your experience so far do you think this would be a good fit???

Oh, and how.... :)

But we love 'em anyway. Mostly.

Yes, mostly...:)
