:cry::cry::cry:

I am a new grad LVN and passed license in south cal . I am looking for the nurse job almost 5 months. I sent over 120 resume...and got 4 interview, but no good news feedback.:crying2::crying2::crying2::crying2:

Because I do not have any experience that they said " I will call you.....may be tomorrow " but never call me back.

How can I do now? I really want to give up ....but I really like to be a :nurse: .

I also tried to walk in the nursing home around my living around ,but it still nothing.

I am so sad and can not face my family.....cry alone!

Maybe things will get better once fall rolls around. Some managers I've spoken to and some of my former classmates that are working as CNAs have been saying that the census seems to be unusually low but it usually picks up after summer. I'm also still looking btw.

My friend who got job said she just so lucky. She was not a good student when she was a nursing student. She always absent and late went to clinic training. She spend 3 time passed her license, but she got job as a lvn at Nursing Hone before she took 2nd time license exam. She just told me about interview" She said that : I will be a good nurse for it'a my favorate subject . I am fast learner and smart girl...... "

How sad !!!!! I was a good student and got high score. My training clinic csore also got high ; however, I don't know how to market myself.

How did she even land an interview? Did she ask to speak to the DON? A lot of the places in my area won't even let you see the DON without an appointment.

I'm sorry but I need to ask, how is your English? Your written skills need some polishing. How are you at speaking English? It could be that you might have an accent that is very thick and they can't understand you very well and sometimes that intimidates prospective employers. I looked online and found flu shot clinics that are hiring. I'm still thinking about putting in the application. It's only seasonal but it gives you the experience. Good Luck

NurseCubanita maybe right....prospective hirers can very well be overwhelmed by an applicant he or she cant understand...also im not sure of your fianancial situation but have you thought about getting your RN?..I know of many postions open for RNs.

LVbaby - reading your posts, it also ocurred to me that perhaps English is not your first language. If that is the case, then perhaps you would increase your chances of landing a job if you improved your written and spoken skills.

If you are not native born, have you tried applying in a facility that is run by folks from your country? Just a thought.

And if you are sending out resumes, are you sending them out to places arbitrarily or to places that are advertising vacancies? That could make a big difference.

DO not give up. only those who quit never land that job. You will get there if you do not give up. You said you were an A student...that is great! But interviewing is a whole different animal.

If I were you, I would use this time now to study and brush up on successful interviewing! From what you have written here, it's apparent that English may be your second language.

IF so, use this time to work on your writing skills and speaking skills. And remember that even those of who were born and raised with English as our first language still may need to learn to communicate better and articulate ourselves well, especially in the interview process.

You say you got all A's in school...that is wonderful and job well done! This will only help you on your way to becoming a great interviewee. Go to the library and find any books you can on the interview process.

One can learn to interview well. It is a skill, just like the skills you learned and excelled at in school. You can do this. Don't give up!

Best of luck to you!

Well, if this is of any comfort you are not alone. I too have been actively searching since Feb of this year and nothing yet. I have been called back many times by agencies looking for Home-health nurses. But no stable employment yet...I am also very discouraged ...I expected to be employed by a SNF or LTC facility by now..........for the longest time I did question myself as to wether it was something I lacked, but then I realized that the issue is experience (none at all) except for my clinical rotations. Over and over that appears to be the problem...and the places that don't require experience are not hiring at all, but are rather in a freeze.....this is here in Los Angeles. There are few jobs for beginners and plenty for the experienced I guess.

I know every place wants a LVN/LPN with experience, sometimes I want to ask them, "how did you start out as a nurse? Were you born with experience?" I'm sick and tired of the whole experience thing. How is one to gain experience if nobody will hire them? I know sometimes you want someone to work on with you with experience, but you know what? I loved having student nurses working with me because they were very cautious and more curteous to me. When I had my children, I had student nurses both times working on me, and I knew that they didn't have experience, but I figured, why not, how else are they ever going to learn. Samething goes for newly licensed nurses, give us a chance!
