Hello My name is Tina AmiRah and I am new to the board. I am looking to hopefully find out more about Nursing in Atlanta as well as make a few new friends. I am a single mother of 2 boys (my oldest resides with me and my youngest continued to reside with their father in Ohio). I am a budding entrepreneur and also praying for the opportunity that would allow me to spend more time with my familty and/or work from home.
I am currently looking to supplement my income and harden my nursing skills. I have worked in Assisted Living for the last 5 years, and need a change on the weekends. I have all but been less than impressed with the nursing homes in atlanta. I would like to find out about quality nursing homes that are in the Atlanta area or any weekend Nursing opportunities that you might know about.
Thanks and I look forward to hearing from you.

I'm planning to move to Atlanta when I finish school and I'm also a single parent. Unfortunately I can't offer you much advise about living in Atlanta but I wanted to wish you luck.

Hi Tina. A friend of a friend is the DON at Fairburn Nursing Home. From what I know of her, she runs a quality institution and you could surely inquire there. However, I see that you are in Chamblee and Fairburn would be quite a drive for you. If you are willing to give it a try however, then look them up. Good luck and welcome to Atlanta.

Hi Tina,
Welcome to the board!!!! I moved here in Acworth---25 miles north of Atlanta-- from Ohio in July of this year. I love it here!!! I have found that the metro area nursing homes pretty well SUCK eggs, too!!!! I went on several interviews and turned them all down. I finally found employment with a company called ParaQuad Services-- a home care company that is AWESOME and pays LPN's what RN's usually make around here. You have one client at a time-- or more if you choose. They have excellent on call program and weekend program. Check out their website for more info. They also post jobs on AJC.com. I recently was hired by Children's Hospital of Atlanta, and their pay and benefits are fantastic. If you work every other weekend instead of only every third weekend, you get paid $10 more an hour.
Well, I wish you luck, and keep us posted!!!
