New Background Checks in Colorado ?

Nurses Criminal

Published

Hi, I have been a nurse in Colorado for about 8mo.

I have 3 DUIs and 2 possession of controlled substances. When I applied for my license I did not share any of this with them and got my license with no problems.

I have heard that they are going to be doing a new background check system and actually check backgrounds in Colorado.

Has anyone else heard of this ? And know of any info on it ?

I am looking to apply for a license in California but have had some out of state misdemeanor charges from when I was a teenager. I don't plan to disclose them because they didn't show up when I did an FBI fingerprint background check on myself.

The only question I have is did they ask you to disclose that information? If they did and you didn't disclose the information, that puts you at risk. If they didn't, then I do not see any reason as to why you would be in trouble.

All states ask about felony and misdemeanor convictions on their application for RN licensure, except New Mexico, North Dakota, and Connecticut, which just ask for disclose of felonies.
