Transcript Evaluations at CSN

U.S.A. Nevada

Hi, I was wondering what people's experience has been transferring credits to CSN. The deadline for Spring 2012 is Sept. 1, 2011. But they tell you to allow 6-10 weeks to process evaluation (too long, if your are taking 2nd session summer courses!). I have read a few ideas on here- like attach course descriptions, NSC transfer took them 5 minutes, beg and plead & it might only take 2 weeks. So I guess this is a SURVEY? Do NSC transcripts tend to be processed faster, since it is a local school? Or has this horrible timeline held up true? Thanks!!

I had my transcript evaluated in one week from an out of state college. I had the course description attached.

I also had my NSC transcript evaluated in one day. My story is kind of long. I had NSC send my transcript to CSN when grades were posted. Unfortunately, NSC did not send it after grades were posted, but immediately. When my DARS came up, I did not have my Bio 224 grade on it. I was still waiting for my out of state college transcript to be evaluated. CSN seemed to have had my transcripts mixed up with others, so I went in and talked to them 2-3 days before the Sept 1st deadline. They told me they would have it all done. When I went on Sept 1st to pick up my DARS, my 224 class was not on there. I thought for sure I would end up having to apply for the Fall 2011 class. I went and talked to the registrar and I also called NSC. They told me they would have my transcript ready, but I didn't think I would have time to drive all the way to NSC back to CSN and have them fix my DARS. Luckily, CSN let me pull up my unofficial transcript and they added Bio 224 to my DARS. They said to make sure to bring my official transcript the next day. So from the Cheyenne CSN campus, I drove to the Charleston CSN campus and turned in my application with one hour to spare.

I don't know if I got lucky or they felt bad for me, but the people at the Cheyenne campus were amazing. So all in all, it took maybe a week to evaluate one transcript (out of state college) and less than 5 minutes for NSC.

wow! that is good to know! I hope to hear more just to make sure I have a REALLY good chance. Thank you! Did you get in the program at CSN? How many points did you have? Also, was it easy to get the classes you needed at NSC?

Specializes in Pediatrics (hopefully).

I transferred a few credits from NSC to CSN a few years back, and had no problems. I took Bio 251 in the summer and met the Fall deadline for applications. My recommendation would be to fill out the paperwork asap, and then follow up with a few phone calls to make sure of the arrival date.

Yes, I got in with 28 points for Spring 2011.

NSC--I had previously been enrolled for a few other classes, the biggest thing was just making sure you get the authorization form if the class you need has prerequisites. For example, I took Bio 223 @ CSN. I wanted to take Bio 224 over the summer at NSC. I had to make sure I got the paper and copy of my unofficial transcript from CSN proving that I was currently enrolled in Bio 223.

Congrats on getting in!!! I am hoping My credits will post in time for fall deadline Bc I need to the points from both sessions in summer. So I hope & pray I get it in time since the second session ends early August. I will be cutting it close!! Hopefully luck is on my side. My thinking is Bc the credits will be from NSC the transfer/post should be painless & fast. We will see. I am hoping for Spring 2012. Thank you!

Good luck!!!

I transferred to NSC this semester but I'm still taking classes at CSN as well. I'm about to do math and I need math to take Chem. So After I finish math this semester if I fill out the authorization form and hand them my unofficial transcript it shouldn't be a problem? I want to take both chem classes over summer at NSC.
