Just wanted to say that I was a part of the first graduating class from Carrington College (formerly Apollo College) in Reno. There were 19 of us who graduated. We have all taken the NCLEX and can now boast that we have a 100% first time pass rate!!!!!!! Also, everyone who wanted a job got a job. We are all so grateful to the wonderful staff who pushed us, we could not have done it without them! Once again a 100% pass rate!!!! :yeah:

That is awesome!! congrats!!! I wish it wasn't so expensive :(

CONGRATS!!! i am thinking about going there this year. are you able to share your experience with the school?

Sadly...no those credits don't transfer

I went to the RENO campus, this is only affecting the Vegas campus. Thanks for the heads up though....

Congratulations indiejonesRN!:yeah:

I'm flying down to Reno for the information session and HESI test, but the wait is killing me. Could you please share with us your experience at Carrington? How was your schedule for the week? Did you feel prepared at the end of the program to take the NCLEX?

Thank you!

Hi jillane2011,

How did the visit to Carrington go? The cost makes me nervous so I haven't gone in yet, what did you find out? Have they already accepted their fall class? When does it start? Thanks for any info you have!

indiejonesRN,

if you don't mind me asking, what was your score on the HESI A2 test for the Math, Reading, and Vocabulary? I'm applying to Carrington, and they said they're only accepting 32 students so I'm curious.

Thank You!

Hi Bristowa!

I attended their info session and went along for the tour. I'm in love with the campus, away from distraction (which is perfect for me) and the simulation lab is beautiful!! The cut off date is July 22, and they send out letters July 29. They start Aug. 29. They accept students after an:

interview

letter to admissions

copy of hs diploma/ged

background check

drug screen

and most importantly....

a min. score of 75% (Math, Reading, Vocabulary) on the HESI A2.

I didn't realize that private schools are just as competitive! Since they're only accepting 32 students, with the highest score on HESI A2 + after meeting the requirements above. I just wish it wasn't 48K :( but it'll all be worth it.

I cant't say I remember exactly what my scores were (as it was almost 2 years ago); however, I did score above a 90% in all three categories with math being my highest. Also, I had the minimum on the N-CLEX of 75. To answer a previous question, I feel as if I was well prepared for it but you never know what will be on the exam, so over-prepping is the key!

Good luck by the way!

I am currently a student at Carrington and half done. I have three semesters left and it is very difficult but each day I realize that I have learned more. The staff is wonderful and their expertise is more than i could ask for. The school is extremely competitive to get into, i have talked to at least 20 people that are trying to get into the fall semester this year half of which have taken the hesi test and got in the high 90th percentile. My dental hygienist took the test and got a 98%. When i took the test I got a 94%, but i'm not sure that score would even work for me now.. it gets more and more competitive each year because as our school builds its wonderful reputation more people want to come here. They can only accept a certain amount of students because of the clinical rotations, they have to bid for the days at the hospitals and since other schools are bidding too they have a limit if the student they can have on site not to mention keeping a smaller class size allows for more personalized teaching which helps you understand more. Good luck on going through the process hope this helps.
